The Best Coach You'll Ever Have

There’s a version of coaching that most of us were never taught.
It doesn’t come from a certification.
It doesn’t come from outside validation.
And it doesn’t require you to have everything “figured out” first.
It begins with this simple idea:
What if the best coach you’ll ever have is already available to you?
Whether you call it God, your higher self, the universe, or unconditional love—there is a source of wisdom that is always present. Always available. Always willing to meet you in this moment where you are.
The shift isn’t in access.
The shift is in learning how to listen.
From Asking… to Listening
For many of us, including myself, prayer or reflection looked/looks like this:
Asking for answers
Hoping for a yes or no
Trying to feel “good” enough to be heard
I became:
The talker.
The pleader.
The over-thinker.
But rarely the listener.
And yet, something powerful happened when I decided to change that.
When I stopped trying to perform, fix, or earn my way into connection and instead began to have a conversation.
The Practice That Changes Everything
One of the simplest ways to begin is this:
Write it down.
There’s something grounding and even powerful about moving thoughts out of your head and onto paper. It slows you down. It brings clarity. It makes the invisible… visible.
But even more powerful than writing your thoughts is what comes next:
Try asking:
“What do you want me to know about this?”
Instead of:
“What should I do?”
Instead of:
“How do I fix this?”
Just:
What do you want me to know?
This question opens a different kind of space, one rooted in curiosity instead of pressure.
What You Might Discover
When you begin to listen this way, something surprising often happens:
The answers don’t sound like your inner critic.
They don’t bring more pressure or overwhelm.
Instead, they often feel:
Supportive
Grounded
Loving
Unexpectedly wise
You may feel:
Seen
Held
Known
Understood
Sometimes the response comes as words.
Sometimes as a feeling.
Sometimes later in your day, through a conversation, a song, or a moment of clarity.
There is no one “right” way to receive.
You Don’t Have to Be “Worthy”
One of the biggest blocks people feel is this:
“What if I’m not worthy enough to hear from God?”
But what if worthiness was never the requirement?
What if the only thing that ever stood in the way… was distraction?
Or busyness?
Or believing you had to clean yourself up first?
The truth many people discover in this practice is:
You are already being spoken to.
You’re simply learning how to tune in.
The Power of Honesty
Real connection doesn’t come from saying the “right” thing.
It comes from telling the truth.
Instead of:
“Please take this feeling away…”
Try:
“This is what I’m actually feeling.”
And then ask:
“What do you want me to know about this?”
That’s where the relationship deepens.
That’s where healing begins.
Why This Changes Everything
When answers come from within, from God, from your higher self, from that deeper place, you trust them differently.
They don’t feel like advice.
They feel like truth.
And that truth?
It empowers you.
Because it’s not something you were told.
It’s something you experienced.
A Simple Way to Begin
If you’re curious, try this:
Set aside a few quiet minutes
Write what’s on your heart (honestly)
Ask:
“What do you want me to know about this?”
Write whatever comes—without filtering
You don’t have to do it perfectly.
Before you try this, I want to say:
This is a practice.
It may take time.
You may sit down and not hear anything at first.
You may wonder if you’re doing it “right.”
That’s okay.
Anything new can feel a little awkward… possibly uncomfortable.
There may be moments where it feels quiet, or unclear, or even like nothing is happening at all.
And still—you can stay.
Sometimes this begins with faith.
Or even just a small hope that something might meet you here.
Over time, with consistency and practice, like any new skill, it will begin to feel more and more comfortable.
Closing
You're not alone.
And you don’t have to figure everything out on your own.
There is a voice of love available to you—right now.
And it might just be…
the best coach you’ll ever have.
