A Voice I’ve Been Listening To

This is a reflection on motivation, pressure, and the voices we trust.
I had a conversation the other day.
I’m sharing it here not to persuade you of anything —
but to invite you into your own listening.
Here’s what I asked.
Me:
What voice do I continue to listen to that’s not your voice?
God:
A taskmaster’s voice.
Me:
What’s the primary message I am hearing?
God:
You aren’t doing enough.
You aren’t doing it right.
As I sat with that, something else became clear.
When I hear you aren’t doing enough,
it doesn’t stop with me.
I hear it —
and then I pass it on.
To my kids.
Into my expectations.
Into the way I move through the day.
I asked another question.
Me:
What do you want me to know about these voices that are not yours?
What is your truth?
God:
They sound valid.
They even sound good to you.
But you are always enough.
Be.
Accept.
Love.
Live.
Wait.
Listen.
Motivation will come naturally
as you wait, listen, and ask.
Then I asked the question that felt hardest to receive.
Me:
What do you want me to know about who I truly am?
God:
You are the god of your life.
A co-creator with me.
Your desires matter.
Your voice is powerful.
Trust that you will learn as you experience.
You don’t have to rush your learning.
It is a perfect process.
You continue to learn
and decide who you are
and how you want to live your purpose.
You are perfect.
Perfect because I created you.
Perfect in me.
As you read this, I invite you to pause.
Just notice what comes up.
Do you recognize the voice that tells you you’re not doing enough?
Does it sound helpful — even loving — while quietly exhausting you?
Where does that voice show up in the way you speak to yourself… or to those you love?
If you feel called, you might ask your own questions —
to God,
to the universe,
to your higher self,
or simply to the quiet within you.
You could begin here:
What is something false that I am believing?
What is the truth?
What do you want me to know about who I truly am?
No rushing.
No fixing.
Just listening —
with a little space
and maybe a pen in your hand.

Some of the questions I ask are inspired by the Receive Experience with Tyson Bradley.
I share short reflections, journaling prompts, and gentle guidance by email — you’re welcome to join and receive them here.
